Set back
in the woods on the shores of Armand Bayou, Bay Area Park sits in a
beautiful setting. Walkers can wander the trails among the woods,
stroll out onto the pier for a great view of the lush bayou, take a rest
in the shade of one of the gazebos, and dally through the botanical
garden. Spend the week end and enjoy a charming bayside region nestled
midway between the big-city allure of Houston and the wide-open beaches
of Galveston. Encompassing seven distinct cities, the region touches
more than 35 miles of waterfront. It boasts succulent seafood, unique
shopping, a booming boating community and awe-inspiring nature
preserves. The area is home to the NASA-Johnson Space Center, astronauts
and a thriving aerospace industry.

Popular Sports (IVV). Participants in this event may receive credit toward IVV
awards.

From Houston,
go south on I-45. Exit Bay Area Boulevard, go East. Travel
about 6 miles. Entrance to the park is on the right. |

Start any time between
8:00
AM to 11:00 A.M. Finish by 2:00 PM. |
| DISTANCE |
10 km walk with 2nd time on same Start Card permitted.
A 5 Km trail is available for those who desire a shorter distance. A
25Km bicycle route will also be available. |
| AWARD |
This is a B Medal event. A supply of awards
from previous events
will be available. |
| TRAIL DESCRIPTION |
Trail is rated
1+, along park and nature trails. Pets are allowed on leashes. |
| REFRESHMENTS |
Water will be available at the Start / Finish and at the checkpoints. |
| REGISTRATION/FEES |
No
pre-registration. B award and IVV credit is $4.00.
IVV credit only is $3.00. IVV
record books will be available for $5.00. Everyone is welcome. You may walk
or bike for free; however, donations are appreciated, to help defray the
cost of hosting the event. Event takes place rain or shine. No
refunds for
failure to participate. |
| ELIGIBILITY |
Everyone is welcome. This event is
non-competitive. Walk, jog, run, or bicycle at your own pace. Family participation is encouraged,
but children under 12 must be accompanied by an
adult.
